Courtney Barnett’s new video for “Elevator Operator” features a number of cameos including Sleater-Kinney, Jeff Tweedy, Tim Rogers and Paul Kelly.

In Courtney Barnett’s latest video for “Elevator Operator,” the Australian singer/guitarist shuttles nuns, businessmen, mimes and more up and down a city skyscraper before rocking out at the top with bandmates Dave Mudie and Bones Sloane.

Watch Courtney Barnett Rock Out on ‘SNL’ Finale »The Sunny Leunig-directed clip opens with familiar faces – Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss – as tourists on a park bench, sussing out map directions while Barnett sprints past them in bellhop attire.
Later, she lends Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy a hand in a chess match as he gives her a banana; just one of the daily rituals of being an elevator operator. Subtle moments like these give Barnett’s video a clever, hand-crafted sensibility, much like the record it comes from, 2015’s Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit.
Other cameos in the video include actresses Tain Stangret and Magda Szubanski, members of Aussie bands Camp Cope, Batpiss, Ouch My Face, The Finks, The Drones, Tim Rogers from You Am I and legendary songwriter Paul Kelly.
Barnett recently announced her last U.S. shows of 2016. She’ll perform at Sound on Sound fest on November 4th in Austin, Texas and at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, Colorado November 8th.
