Wilco‘s first set at this year’s Solid Sound Festival was a live band karaoke affair in which a number of fans and other special guests including Courtney Barnett took turns leading the band. WFUV has shared crispy audio of the performance from June 28 at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts just in time for this week’s Full Show Friday column.

The band kicked off the set by themselves for a seven-song segment that mixed old favorites like “Hummingbird,” “Must Be High” and “Misunderstood” with more recent fare such as “Random Name Generator,” “Cry All Day” and “If I Ever Was A Child.” Wilco then began the karaoke portion of the festivities as lyrics scrolled behind the band and the audience was encouraged to singalong. First up was North Adams’ own Darlie for “Nothing’severgonnastandinmyway(again).” Then, Aiden from Albany led “Heavy Metal Drummer,” Brad from Texas sang “I’m The Man Who Loves You,” Henry from Maine did “Poor Places” justice and Albany’s Courtney delivered “Hate It Here.”

Wilco went on to welcome Alex from Ohio for “Wishful Thinking,” Kevin from Rochester for “Say You Miss Me,” Bailey from South Bend for Daniel Johnston’s “True Love Will Find You In The End,” John from Chicago for “Dawned On Me” and Eben from Brattleboro for “Monday.” The band then brought out Yuka Honda (Wilco guitarist Nels Cline‘s wife) then teamed with Catherine from Los Angeles on “We Aren’t The World (Safety Girl)” before Jeff Tweedy‘s son Sammy led “I’m Always In Love” and Barnett crushed “Handshake Drugs.” A run of “Jesus, Etc.,” “Outta Mind (Outta Site)” and “California Stars” ended the set ahead of a “What Light”/”The Late Greats” encore.
