Wilco will serve as the backing band for between five and 10 lucky Solid Sound Festival attendees during what has been dubbed “Live Band Karaoke.” The Solid Sound Festival takes place at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts June 28 – 30.
Jeff Tweedy explained what’s in store in a statement:
“Ever wish karaoke bars had more Wilco? Do they have any? I don’t really know. But I do know that they don’t have enough songs about existential dread and self-loathing. Sound fun? Please join us onstage so we can get Solid Sound 2019 started with some outsourced belters from the Wilco songbook. Let’s do this!” – Jeff Tweedy
Fans who want to participate are asked to share a video using the hashtag #WilcoKaraoke featuring their performance of the song they’d like to sing at the festival via Instagram or YouTube. Those who win will be notified on June 10 and will receive a pair of passes to the event, the chance to perform with Wilco at the festival, a meet-and-greet and rehearsal with the sextet and a gift bag. The “Live Band Karaoke” performances will go down on Friday, June 28.

While 3-Day passes and single-day tickets are sold out, tickets for Sunday remain and are on sale via the festival’s website. Courtney Barnett, The Feelies and Tortoise are among the other acts on the lineup.
