People talk a lot about the songs they played at their wedding or would play at their nuptials, but divorce anthems get very little space in the mainstream conversation.
Considering the fact that the U.S. is number four in divorce rates (as of 2016), you’d think there’d be a larger cultural conversation around divorce rituals, coping, anthems, and all the humor necessary to move on. But alas, it’s far easier to fixate on the romance of weddings than the realities of marriage and divorce.
Needless to say, when the Twitter user Eric Alper asked people to share their “divorce songs” — either what they’d play at their hypothetical divorce, or what they already cranked to get over an ex, the floodgates opened.
