Earlier this year, Francis and the Lights appeared on Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book track “Summer Friends.” Now, the band (led by Francis Farewell Starlite) have shared a new song of their own. It’s called titled “Friends” and it features Kanye West and Bon Iver. (Funnily enough, Starlite spent much of the past day retweeting and responding to people on Twitter, who said he ripped off or sounded like Bon Iver on “Summer Friends.”) They’ve also shared the video for it, directed by Jake Schreier. The one-shot take visual opens with West standing in a room. The camera then pans to Starlite, who walks around and dances. From there, it pans to Starlite and Justin Vernon, who do a synchronized dance. At the end, we see West once again. Watch the “Friends” video below.
In addition to Vernon and Starlite, “Friends” was co-written with ex-Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij, BJ Burton (who’s worked with Vernon in the past), and Aaron Lammer (of Francis and the Lights). The five also produced the song, in addition to Ariel Rechtshaid, Cashmere Cat, and Benny Blanco.
