Maybe Ryan Reynolds is dropping a hint to Deadpool fans about the possible release date for the follow-up to his raunchy, anti-superhero blockbuster — or maybe he just likes showcasing fan art.
On Wednesday, Reynolds shared on his Instagram and Facebook pages — on which he has millions of followers — some fan art of a faux Deadpool 2 movie poster.
The only text he included with the photo — a defaced bathroom sign altered to include mutants — was “Ahhhhh, @mutant101 (fan who made the poster). Isn’t this a felony?” The image appears to be a tongue-in-cheek response to the anti-transgender laws which have been recently passed in some states.
At the bottom of the faux poster is a 2018 release date for the sequel.
Deadpool was a critical and commercial hit when it was released just before Valentine’s Day, going on to become one of the highest-grossing R-rated films ever.
And a 2018 release date seems to make sense timing-wise, with producer Simon Kinberg saying in June that Fox hoped to start shooting Deadpool 2 at the beginning of next year.
