It feels like it’s been with us for a decade, but amazingly, it was just last year that Melbourne singer/songwriter Courtney Barnett released her masterful debut LP Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, and she’s not even done releasing music videos from the thing. Debuting today is the Sunny Leunig-directed clip for album opener “Elevator Operator,” which features Barnett in the titular role, in a lift that seems to essentially allow her to travel the world in her maroon uniform. Eventually she gets dropped off on the roof and, after a briefly existential moment of contemplation, joins up with the rest of her power trio to perform the song’s final chorus.
Watch the clip here, which also features legendary punk trio Sleater-Kinney in the intro, struggling to read an Australian road map.
