Famed British actor Sir Patrick Stewart has reinvented himself as a lonesome, range-prowling cowboy crooner in a ridiculous new commercial that was put together for charity.

Patrick Stewart on the Joy of Being Whipped with Wet Towels »The faux ad for Patrick Stewart’s Cowboy Classics appeared online this weekend and finds “Cowboy Pat” in spurs and chaps, belting snippets of tunes from the wild west songbook like, “Rawhide,” “Buttons and Bows” and “Streets of Laredo.” An overzealous narrator even boasts, “With his Royal Shakespeare training, Sir Stewart can jump into character and paint a picture like no other.”
In true infomercial fashion, the clip includes several “but wait, there’s more” offers, such as Cowboy Pat’s Songs for Lonesome Lovers and Duets Out West, which promises “collaborations” with Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Stewart’s wife, Sunny Ozell. As if that weren’t enough, Cowboy Pat has even cobbled together a holiday treat, Christmas on the Range.
While tragically all copies of Patrick Stewart’s Cowboy Classics, are “sold out” on his website, there is a five-song sampler available for download for $10. The collection features full performances of “Buttons and Bows,” “Don’t Fence Me In,” “Ringo,” “I’m an Old Cowhand” (featuring Ozell) and “Here Comes Santa Claus.” All proceeds will benefit the International Rescue Committee, a global humanitarian aid, relief and development organization helping crisis-affected families in Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere.
