Lil Wayne’s personal journal from the rapper’s eight-month prison stint will finally be published this October, four years after the book was first announced. Gone ’Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island documents the rapper’s time in the New York prison after being convicted of gun possession charges in 2010.

Lil Wayne Hospitalized After Emergency Plane Landing »In a statement to the New York Times, a representative for Penguin, who will publish the book through their Plume imprint, said Gone ‘Til November was “taken directly from Wayne’s own journal” without the aid of a co-writer. The book “reveals the true story of what happened while he was at Rikers Island, exploring everything from his daily rituals to his interactions with other inmates to how he was able to keep himself motivated and grateful.”
While serving his prison sentence, Wayne maintained a website – Weezy Thanx You – where the rapper kept fans abreast of his daily life behind bars. “I wake up around 11 a.m.,” Wayne wrote in one post. “Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Pushups. Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the Bible, then sleep. That’s my day.”
Gone ’Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island was originally announced in January 2012, with Grand Central Publishing scheduled to print in November of that year. Instead, Plume will publish Wayne’s book on October 11th.
