Exodus Shout Down Split Claims:
Exodus have shouted down claims that they’re on the verge of splitting.
The band became the subject of speculation after withdrawing from this year’s Maryland Deathfest on the same day guitarist Gary Holt discussed the possibility of joining Slayer full-time.
But they insist the two stories circulating at the same time are nothing more than a coincidence.
Exodus say in a statement: “We have recently observed a whirlwind of speculation, conspiracy theories, and just plain ole dumb-assed comments on the Internet regarding our future and Gary Holt’s commitment.
“Exodus is not disbanding! Gary will continue to perform on the current Metal Alliance tour, as well as splitting his time between Exodus and Slayer in the future. The band, with Gary, will be appearing at this year’s Hell & Heaven fest in Mexico on May 19th, after which Gary will return home to support and care for his family.”
They report the reason for cancelling their Deathfest appearance was that Holt’s father had fallen seriously ill. That had led to them considering finding a stand-in for their current tour.
“As things worked out, his father was able to recover to a somewhat stable condition, yet he is still not out of the woods and continues to be closely monitored.
“This was obviously a private and personal matter that didn’t warrant public knowledge. The press release from Maryland Deathfest and then the interview given by Gary about not quitting Exodus was just a random coincidence. We felt it necessary to inform people of the real story.”
