Vermont jam quartet Twiddle ended 2018 with a sold-out two-night New Year’s Run in Boston. Twiddle rocked The Paradise on Sunday night before closing out the year with help from members of The Werks at the House Of Blues on New Year’s Eve.

Twiddle kicked off the evening with the recently debuted “River Drift” ahead of the dream pairing of “Jamflowman” and “Frankenfoote.” After “Lost In The Cold” came the first surprise of the evening as the quartet recruited guitarist Chris Houser of The Werks for a debut cover of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” Houser returned following “Hatti’s Jam” to contribute to the “When It Rains It Pours” set closer.

The four-piece used “Enter” as an intro for “Orlando’s” to open the second set. Houser, who Twiddle guitarist Mihali described as one of his favorite guitarists came back for the “Polluted Beauty” that ended 2018 and led into the traditional “Auld Lang Syne.” Chris’ band mate Rob Chafin strummed an acoustic as the now six-piece ensemble covered “Burning Down The House” by Talking Heads. Expansive versions of “Apples” and “Beethoven & Greene” closed out the second set. Twiddle then said farewell with a “Juggernaut” encore.
