Earlier today, Beyoncé posted a tribute video on her Instagram to the five officers slain by a sniper in Dallas on Thursday night during a protest held in response to the recent murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. Seven officers and two civilians were also injured during the shooting. The video she posted features a billowing image of the Texas flag and the names of the five police officers: Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael Smith, Brent Thompson, and Patrick Zamarripa. Find the video below. Alongside the video is a note from Beyoncé advocating for a non-violent solution to the rise of police violence:

Rest in peace to the officers whose lives were senselessly taken yesterday in Dallas. I am praying for a full recovery of the seven others injured. No violence will create peace. Every human life is valuable. We must be the solution. Every human being has the right to gather in peaceful protest without suffering more unnecessary violence. To effect change we must show love in the face of hate and peace in the face of violence.

Earlier this week, she shared a powerful essay urging for action against the recent rise of police brutality. She asked her fans to take a stand: “It is up to us to take a stand and demand that they ‘stop killing us.’” At a concert in Glasgow, she held a moment of silence for the victims of police brutality.
