Prior to performing in his final Hamilton show, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jennifer Lopez linked up to pay tribute to the victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting. Their song, “Love Make the World Go Round,” is a spiritual companion to “Hands,” the large-scale benefit song featuring Mary J. Blige, Lopez, Jason Derulo, Britney Spears, and more released earlier this week.
The duet, available exclusively on iTunes, uses a dance beat to propel the positive messages. “We’re not gonna hide,” Lopez sings. “No fear in our eyes / Love is a call to action.” Miranda delivered a powerful speech at the Tony Awards just hours after the disaster, so of course he had some bars: “What we got is love even when the sinners hate us / We can not let them diminish or intimidate us.”
Proceeds from the single’s sales will go toward Hispanic Federation’s Proyecto Somos Orlando, a charity that aids victims of the shooting.
