Watch Dana Carvey Show Off Dance Move David Bowie Taught Him »The conceit of the clip finds Carvey playing a celebrity caught in a generic, split-second scenario. For example, “Bernie Sanders helps kids cross the road,” “Charlie Sheen tries to hail a cab with someone in it” or “Bill Clinton retrieves his wedding ring from the garbage disposal.”
Even though the bits are brief, Carvey’s ability to capture a person’s essence in the moment is remarkable. Among the highlights are Jimmy Stewart wondering if someone’s added him on LinkedIn, Johnny Carson’s hot-under-the-collar reaction to Kanye West’s “Famous” video and Cary Grant swiping on Tinder: “Well I can’t believe it, everybody’s hideous,” Carvey grumbles in a perfect transatlantic lilt.
Carvey recently wrapped up the first season of his new USA game show, First Impressions, which found the comedian overseeing weekly competitions amongst America’s best up-and-coming impressionists.
